Dear Mr. Astakhov

Dear Mr. Astakhov,
Since you said that Russia would "take care of their own," a video showing great physical abuse in one of your orphanages has surfaced, it was discovered that your doctors never discovered my daughter's two drastically broken legs, and now a child whose parents you blocked from bringing them home has died because, again, your system failed to detect a major medical condition. Is the location of this child's burial being hidden because of your innocence? How does it feel to have the death of innocent children on your conscience? Or do you have a conscience at all sir?

  2. Be as mad at Astakhov as you like, but he has significantly increased domestic adoptions, trained tons of foster parents and decreased the number of kids in state care by 30% over the past 5 years:

It's awful what happened to your girl and that an orphan who was the ex-referral of someone you knew died and that kids in Russian orphanages are horribly beaten... but any number of horrors happen to US foster kids on an alarmingly regular basis too:

    1. Full written above is Kremlin's propaganda. There is no truth at all. "Domestic adoptions" is going down too. Here is official figures (Pink line):

      https://pp.vk.me/c407318/v407318129/abf1/oOrqsP5og7c.jpg

AND don't forget, that there is so called "rotation" of childrens in adopting families, which allows to include one child several times in "domestic adoption" statictic.

Astahov and Putin are real enemies of our nation. Population of our country decreasing every year. Only massive traffic of people from Asian countries of former USSR helps to prevent all industries collapse. Do you know, that there is no official registrations of deaths and births in our country at all (except big industrial cities)? Please read carefully this article about http://mtro.es/Russia Do you believe in our "statistics" now? Our country is dying due to "social" care (pensions USD150-250 per MONTH), extremely growing drug sales, Kremlin's planned medium level of alcoholization of all our nation in order to prevent active types of protests. You will see big changes in our country, but they will happen when such persons as Astakhov and all rest pro-Putin's thieves and liars will be thrown away from Kremlin as far as possible.

    2. "Full written above is Kremlin's propaganda"

that's true! Astakhov lives more in France than in Russia and thinks more of own radiant smile, than the children

    3. And what is the most amazing, he's done all that remotely from his villa in Nice, France.

  8. Tell me, what it is to roast alive Russian child in the car and be justified? What's it like to shoot a rifle Russian child in the head and be justified?
How does it feel - to arrange at his home of Russian children brothel for pedophiles and do not go to jail?
Ask any of the American adoptive parents. They know.

    1. ROMAN, don't think nobody will answer on your stupid PROPOGANDA!

      1. How any of your questions concern to Kendra Skaggs?

      2. Would you be so kind to read first stories about situation whis the children in Russia?
      -- about 2 Russian girls who's Russian father through them out of the window of their flat (from 8th floor);
-- about the children in Russian orphanages, who are bitten EVERY DAY by teachers and elder children and so on.

3 I would advise you as well to read a book, written by former patient of Russian invalid-orphanages, "White on Black" (Рубен Давид Гонсалес Гальего. Белым по черному).

When you will be ready with the recearch, you can come back and we can discuss the problem on the equal level...

  9. Dear Ms. Skaggs,

Will you give up your own children, should somebody show interest in them and prove that your children will be better off with the new parents?

Dear Ms. Skaggs, you (Americans) had better take care of your own American children, some of whom are not happy even in prosperous families, and Russia will really take care of its own.

As to your heart-piercing questions like "How does it feel to have the death of innocent children on your conscience?", ask them your American Government, permanently waging wars all over the World and making millions orphans. Please, leave those orphans alone.

As for now, the feel is that very few American officials know the meaning of the English word "conscience"...

  13. Thank you very much for your words! These words needed to be heard in Russia. There is too much of BS is going on here :( http://echo.msk.ru/blog/kskaggs/1087532-echo/ One well known radio station already translated and published your letter on their web site.
    Thank you very much again!

  14. Dear Mrs. Skaggs,
Do you really expect that Mr. Astakhov has conscience? Or you tried to find something, that a member of the KGB have never had? By my opinion he is solving his own private problem on account other people, particularly russian orphans.
In any case goodluck for you in your doings.

  15. He doesn't have any conscience, he even doesn't know the meaning of that word!

Bravo, Kendra! I thank you so much for that what you've done! I wish to your family great luck and I hope that everything will be fine, as usual!

Some times, it's a sad to me, that abandoned children couldn't have parents in my country, being taken by foreign people instead, it's a big shame for me and especially for the government...

But then, I think about all that care, that they'll get in US and other countries, and about that horrible orphanage videos... And I think then: god bless all that people, who have the ability to adopt our Russian children, to give them hope and medical care!

    Best regards,

  16. Kendra, almost nothing to add. It's really awful so called system, it's really awful treatment of children in orphanages in Russia. This is not just one episode - it lasts for ages and ages :(

But have you heard what Astakhov said in relation to that episode of physical abuse? He said they should have enforced the control over the internet video hostings. If you heard how he talked to Russian independent journalists... There's no doubt he's just a terrible asshole in any way you can imagine. Perhaps he's even worse than his boss Putin :(

  19. Astakhov is a former KGB agent and those types of people (I really want to write animal) does not have conscience. While he is rising his own kids in France and taking advantage of western system and medicine, Russian orphan kids must suffer so Astakhov can make a point - he is Russian patriot.
Unfortunately Russian modern patriotism is simply to produce the hate to everyone else including their-own kids.
I hope that Astakhov will pay for what he has done prior he reach the hell.

  21. I'm really curious what "Dear Mr." Astakhov would answer. But I think as usual: "Everything is fine! Yes we have some liiiitle problems, but we will solve it! Yes kids die sometimes. And yes Russian government will not pay for funerals, but only because our stong Russian kids die very seldom! Why nobody talk about it? That why we even don't have the norm in law, that government must pay for it! Because kids are happy! And don't forget, that this boy from Novosibirsk could also die in USA! Nobody have garanties and you must understand it!"
    etc. in the same style!
    Ohhh, how I hate him!

  22. Thanks for that. Sad.

Could you elaborate on the broken legs? Is it bad news or good news? Can the proper treatment help now? I thought the main problem was spina bifida, how do the breaks change the picture?

  23. Talking to Astakhov's conscience you are talking to the wind in his proudly rised head.
It's a shame to be russian traveling abroad - every decent human should consider you a cannibal or something alike. They never say it, but they obviously should think it, knowing our government.

  24. Самое печальное, что многие в России равнодушно поддерживают этот закон. Абсолютно не понимая глупости и жестокости происходящего.

  25. Thank you Kendra for what you do. I am sure that there will be the time when Astakhov and the likes will pay for that. Dearly.

  26. Dear Kendra,
thank you for your good heart and your courage. But this question is pointless. No, he does not have any conscience, and I doubt if he even knows the meaning of this word. But really, what´s the point in asking a plastic robot about its conscience?

Please disregard the nasty comments posted here. The news is shocking. Normal people support you and struggle to make the lives of orphaned kids change for the better.

    Hugs from Russia,
    Natalia

  28. Dear Kendra,

I'm Russian. Pls. accept my utmost admiration of your adoption of a russian girl who otherwise would literaly had not much chances for a full life.
I feel ashamed of Mr Astakhov's hypocrisy, his life style, his foreign rather than in-country interests. Look at his happy face -he and his wife decided to give birth and baptize his baby in France as "it was more comfortable".
    http://7days.ru/article/chronic/pavel-astakhov-nas-s-zhenoy-pytalis-razvesti/2
Then the happy father travelled weekly to Cote d' Azure as "his baby could forget the father".
The worst thing abt. him he is a typical putin's official- no convictions, absolute devotion to his boss thus the assignment, thirst for budgetary money, former KGB. Those like him make a present day Russian Establishment without much feedback (fake elections) to civil society.

    Best regards,
    Sergey

  29. In Russia has long been obvious that Astakhov no conscience. And our government is doing what they like in spite of the will of the people. Of course, in America, our children will be lived better than in the Russian orphanage. And like the kids were just happy and healthy, and no matter where they live. Children should be loved and not to give offense to either Russia or America

    ReplyDelete
  30. What innocent children? To Astakhov and the likes they are just numbers. One orphan less to take care of, and they can report the dwindling number of orphans.
If this kid had been adopted to the US and died anyway (depends on the gravity of his condition), the Russian government would have said the Americans murdered him/her.

Also, I am reasonably sure the child's condition was well known. Scores of doctors examine the children all the time. They just did not think it was necessary to correct a heart defect in a "down", mentally retarded, child.
Orphans with DS and HIV very often are denied surgeries, unless someone steps up and fights for them.

  31. My heart is warmed reading all the comments from the wonderful people of Russia, knowing that the Russian people are very good people, just trapped in the arms of awful heartless leaders. I continue to pray for hearts to soften so more children, especially those with disabilities, can find loving families. We are so thankful we got our precious daughter home when we did, just months before the ban.

  33. Thank you, Kendra! I am from Russia originally and I have visited orphanages there... Very few of even healthy children there have chances of surviving beyong 25yo, leave alone those who have medical issues. Thank you for what you've done by adopting your daughter and thank you for what you're doing by reaching out with your blog.
And about Astakhov... I don't think he has conscience unfortunately...

    1. Dear Kendra,

Thank you for your adopting of Polina, for your courage and kind heart and love. I am from Russia and I agree with you that the Dima Yakovlev's law is awful. But the children and the whole families of our politicians live abroad, learn abroad, spend there holidays and get the treatment there. That's why we have the fantastic government that doesn't care for people.

  34. Dear Kendra!

First of all - thank you for saving Polina. I am from Russia, and I am full of joy to know that she escaped our country.

Let me tell you what these people think. They've just passed a first anti-"gay propaganda" law, and they are talking about a new law - allowing the state officials to take children (adopted or born) from "factually gay families". This means that our government is not only ignoring the current situation with hundreds of thosands ophans in the official system "care", but they want more children taken away from their families. Most of my LGBT friends who have children are in a state of panic, and they are looking for ways how to leave the country. But for Astakhov and others like him children=money for him. More children=more money, because ophanages are paid by the government for each child. Less children are in the ophanage, less money it receives, and less money can be stolen by government officials. :(

One friend said: "we had thought about immigration, but now it has become evacuation."
